De jacht op dwergvinvissen is weer geopend !
IJsland heeft weer toestemming gegeven om 40 dwergvinvissen te vangen voor consumptie. Het walvisvlees is bedoeld voor IJslanders zelf en niet voor de export.
In de wateren rond IJsland leven zo'n 50.000 dwergvinvissen. Sinds 2006 is de jacht weer toegestaan, na een verbod dat 20 jaar duurde. Organisaties als Greenpeace en Sea Shepherd zijn woedend. En ik ben dat ook. Kijkt u maar even naar het schokkende filmpje. Weet u gelijk hoe het er aan toe gaat in de walvisjacht.
Wellicht kan de onthulling door Greenpeace van allerlei schandalen rond de walvisjacht in Japan nog een positieve bijdrage leveren. Een wereldwijd verbod op de walvisjacht lijkt mij het beste.
