Large wind turbines test site opens in the Netherlands

A wind turbine test site for prototyping and certificaion, said to be the largest in Europe, has opened in the Netherlands.

The wind turbine test site in Lelystad provides infrastructure, wind measurements and wind turbine measurements required for turbine certification. It is in the grounds of Wageningen University and is operated by Ecofys Wind Turbine Testing Services (WTTS).

The site can service 12 turbines with tip heights up to 200 m and a combined installed capacity of up to 30 MW. Test Site Lelystad is already fully booked for the coming 7 years.
