NEC, a leading player in submarine communication systems, as well as systems for earthquake and tsunami observation, exhibited their submarine cable system at Photonics 2011.Recently, NEC won a big project to link Japan with countries in South-East Asia via submarine cable. This project is scheduled for completion in 2013. The new cable will connect with the Trans-Pacific Cable, which has already been completed.
