India's renewable energy contributes over 11% of total total installed capacity

Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Indian Minister of New and Renewable Energy has said India, as part of its ambitious programme for promoting renewable energy, had installed base of about 20 GW, which is around 11 per cent of India's total power generation capacity and contributes over 4 per cent in the electricity mix.

"Our aim is to take it to over 20% in the next decade with a capacity of over 70,000 MW," Abdullah told the 2-day IRENA-Africa High Level Consultative Forum in Abu Dhabi.
