10 Billion euro investment in five French windfarms with 1200 windturbines (6GW)

Project developers can bid on five wind farms off the coast of France. The French government has 10 billion euro in subsidies for offshore wind parks.

The 1200 wind turbines have a combined capacity of 6000 megawatt. Once at full strength, in 2020, the wind parks will deliver 3.5 percent of the French energy needs.France currently wins 38 percent of its electricity from nuclear power, the highest proportion in the world.

While emissions are widely reduced due to nuclear power, the government would like to increase the output of renewable energy by 2020 to at least 23 percent of the national “energy” part. Source: Tomorrow is greener
