TEDxAlcatraz 2011: A World's Cup by Michael Zuckerman

Michael Zuckerman is the founder of 3rdSpaces, Director of Sustainability for San Francisco's Temple Nightclub, and Chair of the Kyebando Green Age in Kampala, Uganda. Under his guidance, Temple Nightclub (the host site of the inaugural TEDxAlcatraz) has established industry best practices in resource conservation, boasting an 89% diversion from landfill rate and was named Treehugger's "Greenest Nightclub in the World" in 2009. His sustainability best practices have been covered in the media including the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal and the Boston Globe. In this talk, Mike takes us along with his journey to Uganda at the time of the 2010 World Cup, where he embarked upon an unexpected avenue to greatly reduce the amount of plastic trash in Kampala's waterways.
