Designing the vertical farm video
Four architects describe their designs for the vertical farms of the future
If you have an opportunity to review there is a company that has put the Vertical Farm to work. Terrasphere Systems (http://terraspheresystems.com/), which is now part of Converted Organics (http://convertedorganics.com/), has developed a Vertical Farm that is in operation and producing organic, pesticide and chemical free products in Canada. The Terrasphere website is very informative and has a couple of excellent videos describing their process (watch the “Two Seeds” video). Converted Organics recently announced that they will be building a Terrasphere plant in Rhode Island which should be completed sometime in June.
Another novel thing that Converted Organics produces, which I believe you might be interested in, is an organic fertilizer from food waste (instead putting it into the garbage land fill). Yes, it is composting, however, their process only takes a week, and their results(per their trials and customer accounts) are looking pretty good.
I am not affiliated with either of these companies, I just thought you would like to see a Vertical Farm in action.
Very Very nice Blog Eric.
