In 2010 Buckman's and Metro-Tek Electrical Services completed the construction of a 620 kilowatt solar energy system at our corporate headquarters in Pottstown, PA. The roof-mounted solar array converts sunlight into electricity, supplying power to our state-of-the-art sodium hypochlorite manufacturing facility.
The solar energy system will produce approximately 700,000 kilowatt hours of electricity each year from almost 3,000 high efficiency photovoltaic solar modules. By using electricity from a clean, renewable energy source, Buckman's Inc will offset 850,000 pounds of carbon dioxide a year. This is equivalent to conserving over 40,000 gallons of gasoline annually, making our solar energy system one of the largest in Pennsylvania. The renewable energy project was made possible in part by a grant from the State of Pennsylvania as well as the Federal Government.
