E.ON to invest €2.6bn in renewable energy by 2013

E.ON plans to invest €2.6 billion in renewable energy in the period 2011-2013, following investments of €1bn in 2010. E.ON says it also expanded its wind and solar capacity by 600 MW to over 3.6 GW in 2010, and the expansion is set to continue.

Examples include the 1 GW London Array offshore wind farm in the UK, which is being built with partners DONG Energy and Masdar; and the 300 MW German Amrumbank West offshore wind farm. E.ON is also close to completion of its 100 MW concentrating solar power (CSP) plant in Écija, Spain, which is a joint venture with Abengoa Solar.
