India aims for 65.2 GW wind by 2020

India could install 65.2 GW of wind power by 2010, according to the Indian Wind Energy Outlook 2011 published by the World Institute of Sustainable Energy (WISE), the Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association (IWTMA) and the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC).

The report shows installed wind capacity could reach 160.7 GW by 2030. In 2010, India had 13.1 GW of installed wind capacity. Reaching 65.2 GW of wind by 2020 could attract around US$10.4 billion of annual investment and create 170,000 green collar jobs.
