Denmark boosts wind ambition to half of national power needs

Denmark’s new government is raising the country’s wind targets, and now wants the renewable source to meet 50% of national power needs by 2020. With 3.75GW of wind capacity installed by the end of 2010 Denmark already has enough for a quarter of its demand.

The increased wind-power target is part of a more ambitious 2020 emissions-reduction plan for a 40% cut in CO2 compared to 1990 levels. The previous aim was for 30%.
