Bid To Save The Earth: Christie's Green Auction 2011

The Green Auction 2011: Bid to Save the Earth evening sale, raised $1.4 million to benefit four environmental organizations: Conservation International, Oceana, Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and The Central Park Conservancy. There was a tie for the top lot of Tuesday night's auction —An unforgettable Hollywood experience during the Oscars and the opportunity to spend a day with President William Clinton — each realizing $100,000. The Bid to Save the Earth initiative will continue raising funds with the online auction and sales from the Runway to Green Collection.

The inaugural Green Auction held on Earth Day in 2010 raised $2.4 million and marked the first time that these four environmental charities have come together around their collective missions to protect our planet. On March 29, 2011 the world's top international collectors, philanthropists, celebrities, and designers will convene at New York City's Rockefeller Center for a star-studded evening of entertainment, live fantasy Green Auction by Chrisite's, and Runway to Green's fashion show debuting Fall 2011 ready-to-wear ensembles and accessories from 20 of the worlds leading designers.

Bid to Save the Earth is a one-of-a-kind "green-clusive" collaboration of people, business and environmental not-for-profits committed in spirit and action to protecting the future of our Earth. 'Bid' also includes a companion online auction powered by charitybuzz.com. Source: Christie's
