This movie was made by Wetsus (Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Water Technology) and REDStack. Blue energy is one of the research topics within SENSE.
When fresh and saline water mixes, energy is released (Gibbs free energy of mixing). A part of this energy could be used for generation of electrical power. Reverse electrodialysis is a membrane-based technique for production of this sustainable electricity.
