Het gebruik van voedingsgewassen voor brandstof is volgens minister Wouter Bos van Financiën een misdaad tegen de mensheid, omdat dit leidt tot hogere voedselprijzen en honger in landen die de hogere prijzen niet kunnen betalen. Producenten van biobrandstoffen sputteren.
Uwe Jurgensen, directeur van BioPetrol Rotterdam BV voelt zich op de tenen getrapt. ,,Biobrandstof slecht? Wat een onzin,,, zegt de directeur stellig. ,,Wat wij doen is geen misdaad. Slechts een paar procent van de landbouwproductie gaat naar biobrandstof. Dat veroorzaakt echt geen honger.,, lees verder in het Nederlands Dagblad
Heel goed van Wouter Bos. Ben eigenlijk wel benieuwd of dit nu het officiële standpunt van het kabinet is. Jammer dat er niet eerder is geluisterd naar alle mensen die de huidige problemen hebben zien aankomen. Voedsel gebruiken als brandstof. Dat is vragen om moeilijkheden.
Desondanks heeft de EU net besloten toch maar door te gaan op de ingeslagen weg.
