UK leads world in offshore wind capacity

The UK is the world leader in installed offshore wind capacity, new figures from the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) show, with 1.34GW of output.

With 308 new offshore wind turbines installed in 2010, the sector saw an increased output of 51 per cent with record growth in Europe. Following the UK is Denmark, which has 854MW installed, the Netherlands with 249MW and Belgium with 195MW of capacity.
