By 2020, the Moroccan Government will invest euro 8 billion into renewable energies. In addition, the German Government supports the so called solarplan with more than euro 43 million.
As the first Arab country, Morocco has presented a bill for the promotion of renewable energies and energy efficiency to the council of ministers. In addition to boost the amount of renewable energies related to total energy consumption, energy efficiency in public buildings, in industry and in public transport shall be improved. Last year, an energy plan has been announced with investments into renewable energies of euro 8 billion. This as well includes the installation of new sun collectors for hot water generation. According to this blueprint, 400,000 sqm of sun collectors shall supply around 150,000 households with energy locally in the country side.
