Solar Development in American Indian Country

The change to a “clean energy economy” has become the Obama Administration’s watchword for pulling out of the recession via renewable energy and clean technologies investment. Indeed, one of the first measures taken by the Administration was to introduce comprehensive legislation (the most comprehensive to date) allocating billions of dollars toward expanding and accelerating development, deployment, and use of geothermal and solar energy throughout the U.S. Currently, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is conducting a Solar Energy Development Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement in order to identify and prioritize specific locations best suited for large-scale production of solar energy. Putting our money where his mouth is, Obama is even installing solar panels on the White House.
