Bulgaria's Largest Solar Plant Launched

Currently, Germany may lead Europe in solar energy installations, but watch out, here comes Bulgaria. With a 45 MW solar project consisting of two installations, a 20 MW and 25 MW photovoltaic array, currently under construction in the villages of Samovodene and Zlataritsa, this eastern European nation has added its largest installation to date, and one of the largest solar projects in the European Union.

California-based renewable energy company NEOptions had a hand in this development–valued at $200 USD–as did the Bulgarian Development Collaborative, and SDN Company, a South Korean producer of power generators, solar modules and marine propellers. After approximately three years of collaboration with SDN (formerly known as Seoul Marine), NEOptions presented the Zlataritsa and Samovodene projects to the Korean company, and despite the difficulties posed by launching a large-scale solar project in a country with no track record and experience in the construction and operation of such facilities, their collaborative Bulgarian project has been successfully launched.
