Tasmania gets weekly greenhouse indicator

For the first time, Tasmanians can track their state’s greenhouse gas emissions each and every week, thanks to the new Greenhouse Indicator being launched in Tasmania today by The Climate Group.

The Weekly Greenhouse Indicator provides real-time information on greenhouse gas emissions produced from energy use – covering electricity generation, gas-use for heating and cooking as well as industrial purposes and the use of all petroleum products.

The Indicator allows people to compare emissions levels with last year, as well as with 1990 and 2000 baselines. Tasmanians will also be able to measure their emissions against other states around Australia.
